Tobias Center Scholars
The Tobias Center Scholars program provides scholarship funding and professional development opportunities to outstanding master’s students at Indiana University who are interested in pursuing a career in international development. Tobias Center Scholars should have backgrounds and interests that identify them as outstanding students who are clearly committed to the interdisciplinary study of development and poverty alleviation around the world. Scholars are identified for awards during the graduate application process.
By participating in this program, Tobias Center Scholars will:
- Build their understanding of the international development industry, key issues, actors, systems, and structures
- Develop and apply their critical thinking skills to analyze the profession of international development and its impact
- Build a network of professionals and academics working in the area of international development
Expectations
Tobias Center Scholars are expected to participate in:
- A monthly seminar or workshop organized by the Tobias Center for Innovation in International Development
- The Annual Tobias Center Research Symposium
Benefits
Tobias Center scholars receive:
- A scholarship equal to 25% tuition plus mandatory fees. International students selected as Tobias Center scholars also have their international student fee covered by the scholarship. Please see above for the estimated dollar value of your award.
- Priority access to Tobias Center programs including the Research Assistance Fellowship Program and the Summer Internship Scholarship
- Access to a network of academics and professionals with an interest in international development
- Opportunity to travel as a cohort to Washington D.C. during the Spring IMF and World Bank meetings and participate in a variety of open session IMF/World Bank meetings as well as open- and closed-door side events hosted at D.C.-based policy organizations. (based on an application process)
