The Tobias Center for Innovation in International Development seeks a graduate student for a Student Academic Appointment (SAA) for the 2025-2026 academic year. The position offers an opportunity to engage with international development research and programming while developing professional skills in academic program administration.

Position Overview
The SAA will work closely with Center leadership to support research initiatives and programming related to international development. This position provides hands-on experience in academic program management while offering opportunities to engage with scholars in the field.
Essential Responsibilities
- Assist in administering the Center's grant programs, including:
- Managing application processes
- Coordinating review committees
- Implementing award monitoring and evaluation instruments
- Assist the Director in organizing and coordinating Center events including:
- Monthly scholarly speaker series
- Academic workshops
- Student professional development panels and workshops
- Support Program Director's research on factors that influence U.S. public support for international development assistance
- Assist with literature reviews and maintaining a project annotated bibliography
- Assist with developing and implementing a public opinion survey instrument
- Maintain Center communications and documentation
- Liaise with campus partners and visiting scholars
Required Qualifications
- Current Indiana University graduate student in good academic standing
- Strong interest in international development demonstrated through coursework and/or research
- Excellent organizational and project management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and database management
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. candidate status
- Research focus in international development or related fields
- Experience with program evaluation or monitoring
- Event planning experience
- Familiarity with survey research methods and implementation, including Qualtrics
- Data analysis skills, particularly in Rstudio
Appointment Details
- Duration: Academic Year 2025-2026 (August 2025 - May 2026)
- Time Commitment: 20 hours per week during the semester (no work over fall, winter, or spring break)
- Compensation: a standard SAA benefits package with an annual stipend of $24,000 plus fee remission and health insurance.
